Former Central Square
Union Square Residences (former Central Square) is a redevelopment of the former Central Square in District 1. It is part of redevelopment of CDL properties within the surrounding areas, which includes a freehold 7-storey Central Mall site and a cluster of conservation shophouses on a 99-year leasehold, with a remaining lease tenure of 71 years. The iconic mixed-use dvevelopment will comprise of commercial and residential, including serviced residences and is sitting on a 81,660 sqft site area. Under the URA Strategic Development Incentive Scheme, the proposed redevelopment will allow for commercial, hospitality and serviced apartment components, uplifting the Gross Floor Area to 735,500 sqft.
It was on 2nd December 2021 that the Central Square was acquired for $315 million. CDL Group CEO, Mr Sheman Kwek added that Union Square Residences crytallies their plan the shape the precinct’s transformation into a new vibrant and lifestyle hub. The Central Mall and Central Square redevelopment project marks their third rejuvenation initiative in the Central Area to transform the cityscape.
Union Square Residences is the latest project that CDL is working on, after the ongoing redevelopment of the former Liang Court (Canninghill Piers) and the former Fuji Xerox Towers (Newport Residences).
